About The Bahamas

Judicial Education Institute

The law now develops much more rapidly and is increasingly influenced by technology, new insights and challenges. The Bahamas Judicial Education Institute (BJEI) was established in October 2019 to fulfill the increasing need for education and training of judicial officers and their staff so as to enhance the delivery of justice in The Bahamas. The BJEI is mandated to provide structured, judiciary specific programs throughout the course of the legal year for the judiciary.

The BJEI is headed by the Chief Justice Sir Ian Winder as President and managed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is led by Vice Presidents Justice Camille Darville-Gomez and Justice Carla Card-Stubbs. The other Board Members include Justice J. Denise Lewis-Johnson, Justice Andrew Forbes, Registrar Constance Delancy, Senior Magistrate Ancella Evans and Nicoya Neilly. The Administrator of the BJEI’s office is Miss Edith Darling.
